Our Mission
Japan-American Cultural Exchange

The Foundation’s primary mission is to build bridges between individuals and groups in Japan and the United States through donating to causes and events which support Japanese cultural and knowledge exchange, as well as creating programs in education, business, the arts, and culture. The core of this purpose is the forging of close friendly relationships by nurturing mutual understanding and appreciation.

The Kleckner Foundation believes that constructive friendships are built when people discover shared aspirations and respect mutual values. We will strive to disseminate an unbiased and accurate knowledge of the Japanese people, their history, and their culture, to people in the United States, and in reverse, do the same for the American people in Japan.

By offering diverse grassroots programs that focus on such opportunities, we hope to create the foundation for a dynamic friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Our programs and efforts are offered to individuals and groups in Japan and in the United States.

“My entire career developed around Japanese pop culture and working with Japanese companies and fans to popularize it around the world. I came to have a deep respect for Japanese culture, and for the Japanese people. Bridging the two cultures creates a depth of experience and understanding that can only deepen the relationship between our two nations.”
Shawne Kleckner
