Shawne created the Foundation in 2019 in order to further causes which have been important to him during his life. For over 36 years, amongst other ventures, Mr. Kleckner operated the largest omnichannel retailer of Japanese Animation (“Anime”) merchandise, Right Stuf, Inc.
Since the sale of that business to Crunchyroll LLC (a joint venture of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Aniplex, Inc.) Shawne provided the Foundation with its endowment and has devoted his time to leveraging knowledge and relationships in the US and Japan to support the Foundation’s primary mission.
Tomoko spent her early career in project management and vendor support in Japan, and then prior to her retirement handled international sales for Japanese production and licensing companies. Utilizing these skills, she assists with grant approvals and interaction with our Japanese partners, maintaining and fostering these strong relationships. Mrs. Kleckner also oversees donations, ensuring contributions are used effectively to support the Foundation’s missions.
Amy enjoyed a long career spanning over four decades in accounting positions in multiple organizations, culminating with management of the accounting department of Right Stuf, Inc. prior to her retirement. She continues to share her experience as Treasurer of the Foundation, overseeing its financial reporting and ensuring that its resources are managed responsibly.
Ryan serves as financial advisor to the Foundation, offering financial expertise to support sound stewardship of the Foundation’s resources and to strengthen its finances for the years ahead. Mr. Chowdhury draws on extensive experience in private wealth management with JP Morgan and through working with family offices through his own firm, Fifth Force Management.
Jamie is a Member of the Meriwether, Wilson and Company CPA firm in West Des Moines, Iowa. Mr. Boess plays a key role in supporting the financial and operational goals of the Foundation, ensuring that its charitable mission is advanced through careful tax planning, compliance oversight, and long-term sustainability strategies.
As a member of various charitable organizations, Gary is experienced in charitable giving techniques and the formation and operation of private foundations. He is a past President of the Japanese American Association of New York, a Governor of the Japanese American National Museum, past Vice Chair of the Asian American Federation, Director and past Vice Chair of the U.S.-Japan Council, a board member of the Japanese Medical Society of America, a board member of the Arthur Miller Foundation and a board member of the Japan Society.
